Athletic classes and intercamp competition are part of the routine at Moosilauke (as are classes in a full array of outdoor life and waterfront activities.) During these classes, campers with all different skill levels learn the fundamental and finer points of each sport through spirited drills and games. Land sport activities at Moosilauke include:
- Soccer (2 fields)
- Tennis (5 clay courts)
- Basketball (2 lighted courts)
- Baseball (2 diamonds, batting cage and pitching machine)
- Lacrosse
- Archery
- Ultimate Frisbee
- Flag Football

In addition, campers who are interested can choose to compete on age specific (10-, 11-, 13-, and 15- and- under) intercamp teams. No one is “cut” from a team at Moosilauke. Any boy who is interested can play on the age appropriate team in any intercamp sport, regardless of experience.
Many of our counselors and activity heads played at the varsity level in college, and have coached elementary and high school teams.
At Moosilauke, competition is used as a device for practicing individual and team skills. Our emphasis is on learning to win and lose with grace, and to have fun in the process. The results of this philosophy are great strides in skill development, and for many, a renewed interest in team sports. Further, when our campers make announcements at the meals regarding competition, they are encourage to speak about the “second scoreboard,” recognizing campers that have exhibited outstanding teamwork and sportsmanship during the day’s play.
